What is festival culture without music, food, and fashion? With El Paso’s own Neon Desert Music Festival approaching, here are some ideas on what to wear for every kind of festival-goer and fashion enthusiast.
For Dudes:
If you want to go the casual route, throwing on your favorite pair of jeans, some sneakers and a black t-shirt can go a really long way. If the pair of jeans is ripped even better, because then you are edging up your look and you’ll make more of a statement while still remaining low-key. Not to mention, you’ll be super comfortable because it’s also a common day-to-day look to wear anywhere.
On the other hand, for those who describe themselves as risk takers, you could go all out by wearing some Chubbies, think THE STAPLES 5.5" (STRETCH) shorts, and a Hawaiian-style shirt of your choice. Mine would be THE SWAMI. This combination is the epitome of fun when you pair it with some low top sneakers, because the flexibility of the materials gives you a lot of room to dance it out to every song.
For the guys that want to give some bohemian vibes, pairing some mauve-color jeans with a short-sleeve denim shirt and a pair of Vans’ Goblin Blue Old Skool skate shoes is the perfect way to go. Incorporating a palette of muted colors in a festival look will guarantee to make you look as chill as you feel.
For Dudettes:
If you want style and comfort in one, pairing some high-waisted shorts, a Chuco Relic tee, and some black classic Converse will not fail you. You’ll look very fashion-forward but also laid-back while representing the Sun City, and if you want to amp up your look, adding a pair of sunnies will not only protect you from the sunrays, but will make you look effortlessly cool as well.
For the girls who are self-proclaimed tomboys in regards to their style, wearing a trusty pair of black jeans and shirt, layered with either an army green bomber jacket or a Levi’s boyfriend denim jacket while sporting some Adidas Originals Superstars will guarantee to deliver the vibes you’re going for. And if you get too hot to wear the jacket all night, tying it around your waist will solve the problem while leaving the cuteness level of your outfit intact.
Lastly, for the free-spirited festival fairies, a cute bralette and some slightly-fitted Harem pants with sandals will do the trick. This outfit could be as ethereal or as earthly as you want it to be. Lace bralettes will give you that “out of this world” delicate feel, and crocheted bralettes will give you a more “raw” element.
You can mix and match any of these ideas, but make sure that whatever you decide to wear represents you and makes you happy when looking back at all the pictures you’re sure to take.
